At Malama Mushrooms, nestled in the heart of Kona, Hawaii, our essence is deeply rooted in the Hawaiian ethos of 'Malama' - to protect, preserve, and nurture. As a family-owned superfood mushroom company, we're dedicated to bringing the myriad health benefits of these extraordinary fungi to the world.
Our Founding Journey - From Mango Trees to Mushroom Innovations
Our story blossomed in 2015 with Benjamin Lillibridge's vision. A passionate agriculturist and environmental scientist, Ben's fascination with mycology – the study of fungi – led him to start Malama Mushrooms. His discovery of fungi's ability to break down pollutants and contribute to traditional and modern medicine fueled his dedication. This journey began in a unique mango-tree house, utilizing a natural lava-formed cave as a pioneering cultivation site for our first Hawaiian-grown mushrooms.

Cultivating Wellness, One Mushroom at a Time
Our focus is on creating 'fung-tional' superfood mushroom products that seamlessly integrate into your daily routine, supporting overall health and wellness. From our early days of innovative mushroom cultivation in a mango-tree house to our current expanded family operation, we're committed to sharing the potent benefits of medicinal mushrooms.
Commitment to Sustainability and Discovery
Ben's vision extends beyond just mushroom products. Through the Hawaii Fungi Project, a non-profit organization, we're dedicated to researching and preserving Hawaii's rare native mushrooms. Fascinated by the untapped potential of the fungi kingdom, we donate 5% of our profits to this project, aiming to uncover the secrets of the 93% of unknown fungi species and their possible health benefits.
